Margaret E. "Peg" Heisey

Margaret Elizabeth “Peg” Heisey, 96, of Calvary Homes, Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 14, 2019. Born in Drumore Township, Lancaster County, PA, she was the wife of the late Lester G. Heisey who died February 17, 1993. She was the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Esther R. Myers Carter. Peg graduated from Quarryville High School and worked on the family farm before marrying Lester; and later worked as a housekeeper on another farm. From 1958-1991, she worked at the Rheems Elementary School and Elizabethtown School District as the Head Cook and stayed on as a part time cook. Peg was baptized at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, attended West Green Tree Church of the Brethren and Faith Bible Church where she accepted the Lord as her Saviour and was rebaptized. Her current membership is with Harvest Bible Church, Lancaster, PA. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Rheems Fire Company where she held the office of Secretary and cooked a lot for the fire company. She also cooked for school fund raising events, played basketball in high school, worked at the Garment and Shoe Factory and Engle Printing Company. She enjoyed camping, miniature golf, crocheting, puzzles, watching the Phillies, collecting salt and pepper shakers and vegetable gardening. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, R. Larry, husband of Cathy A. Heisey, Middletown, PA, and Kenneth E., husband of Peggy J. Heisey, of Elizabethtown, PA; three grandchildren: April J. Heisey, Jessica L., wife of Philip Berkheiser, Kenneth E. Heisey, Jr., husband of Julie Heisey and three great-grandchildren: Timothy “Grant” Berkheiser, Yeira Berkheiser and Rebekah Heisey. Peg was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Carter. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Peg’s Memorial Service at Calvary Homes, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private Interment Service was held at West Green Tree Brethren Cemetery. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in her name to Calvary Homes, attn: Benevolent Fund, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
