Fue la querida hija de los fallecidos Angel Ramirez y Maria Hernandez. Bertilia fue una fiel miembro de la Iglesia Cristiana Peña de Oret en Florida, donde sirvió con dedicación en el grupo de mujeres. A lo largo de su vida, Bertilia fue una estilista dedicada y una pionera en la educación de cosmetología. En 1977, fundó su propia Academia de Belleza en la República Dominicana, donde se desempeñó como directora e instructora. Fue una mujer visionaria al llevar la educación de cosmetología al Sector La Pulla de Arroyo Hondo, orientando a miles de mujeres a lo largo de los años. Su legado continúa a través de las muchas mujeres que obtuvieron sus licencias gracias a su academia, la cual sigue siendo reconocida en los Estados Unidos. Bertilia deja en vida a sus hijas, Altagracia Cruz, Johanna Indhira Rondon, Ruth Elizabeth Ortiz Ramirez y Lerida Mariel Ortiz Ramirez; su hijo, Miguel Alberto Ortiz-Ramirez; sus once nietos, Rafelito, Janlet, Yindania, Allison, Leslie, Andre, Amelia, Yelitza, Aranxa, Paulette y Edriel; sus hermanas, Ercilia y Victoriana; y sus hermanos, Cirio e Ino. Bertilia Ramirez Hernandez, 77, born in La Vega, Dominican Republic, passed away peacefully at, Abbeyville Nursing and Rehab, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Angel Ramirez and Maria Hernandez. Bertilia was a devoted member of Peña de Oret Christian Church in Florida, where she faithfully served in the women’s group. Throughout her life, Bertilia was a dedicated hairstylist and a trailblazer in cosmetology education. In 1977, she founded her own Beauty Academy in the Dominican Republic, where she served as director and instructor. She was a pioneer in bringing cosmetology education to Sector La Pulla de Arroyo Hondo, mentoring thousands of women over the years. Her legacy lives on through the many women who obtained their licenses through her academy, which continues to be recognized in the United States. Bertilia is survived by her daughters, Altagracia Cruz, Johanna Indhira Rondon, Ruth Elizabeth Ortiz Ramirez, and Lerida Mariel Ortiz Ramirez; her son, Miguel Alberto Ortiz-Ramirez; her eleven grandchildren, Rafelito, Janlet, Yindania, Allison, Leslie, Andre, Amelia, Yelitza, Aranxa, Paulette, and Edriel; her sisters, Ercilia and Victoriana; and her brothers, Cirio and Ino. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at The Groffs Family Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. A viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
