Henry B. Rudisill

Henry B. Rudisill passed away in his 77th year on Tuesday morning December 28, 2010 at The Lancaster General Hospital. The son of the late James J. and Mary Little Rudisill, he was born in York, PA on October 17, 1934. Henry was married to Abby Hunter Rudisill, his wife and best friend for almost 40 years. Henry was an avid world traveler but always called Lancaster his home. After graduating from Manheim Township in 1952 he attended both Philadelphia Bible College and Franklin & Marshall College. Henry was proudly a fifth generation printer in the Rudisill family. His Great Great-Grandfather, Abraham Rudisill (1811-1899) began the family tradition followed by Great-Grandfather George Rudisill (1840-1917), Grandfather James Rudisill (1872-1940) and his father James J. Rudisill (1900 -1958). The former Rudisill & Company, established in 1939 in Lancaster, operated as a commercial printer for 20 years before being acquired by R.R. Donnelly & Sons Company, of Chicago, and has grown to be one of the largest employers in Lancaster. One of Henry’s sons is now the sixth generation printer and works for R.R.Donnelly & Sons Co. of Lancaster. Before retiring in 1992, Henry worked at various training positions at Rudisill & Company (1954-1957) before becoming Vice President for Rudisill (1957–1959). He then rose to Assistant to the General Manager of R.R. Donnelly and ultimately enjoyed his career as a Sales Representative for R.R. Donnelly (1963-1968). After R.R. Donnelly Henry continued in the printing business as Printing Sales Executive for Lebanon Valley Offset Co. of Annville, PA (1968-1992) and a Consultant for Veitch Printing of Lancaster. Henry had a passion for world travel, automobiles, tennis, golf and friends. In 1998, while traveling with his wife Abby in Tunisia, North Africa, they were in a bus accident which left Henry as a quadriplegic. He was a member and Elder of Highland Presbyterian Church. Also, he was a member of the Lancaster Country Club, The Hamilton Club, The Liederkranz, The Churchill Society, Sons of the Revolution and The Court Jesters. In addition to his wife Abby, Henry is survived by his sons Henry B. Rudisill, Jr. of Cranston, R.I. and Michael A. Rudisill and his fiancée Julie Brooks Hiller both of Lancaster. Additionally he has four Grand-children who brought him great joy, Emily N., Maggie E., Ella S., and Cooper D. Rudisill; two sisters Mary Anne Rudisill Graybill, wife of Dr. John B. Graybill, Sarah Rudisill Martin, wife of the late Eugene H. Martin both of Lancaster and a brother William L. Rudisill husband of Dorothy Rudisill of Haverford, PA. Henry was preceded in death by his son, J. Frederick Rudisill in 1992 and his sister Barbara Rudisill Lease wife of the late Rev. Stuart E. Lease. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to celebrate Henry’s life at 11:00 am on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Highland Presbyterian Church; 500 East Roseville Road Lancaster, PA .The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the Service. A private family Interment will take place in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made in Henry’s name to The Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster, P.O.
