Jere Lee Goodman

Jere Lee Goodman passed away on March 18, 2026 at home in Lancaster Pa. Jere was born in Lancaster, PA to the late Richard Goodman and Miriam Goodman (Coble). Jere was an adventurous teenager who participated in football and wrestling. Jere was part of a large family including siblings, Richard Jr., Shirley, Dale, Jack and Mick who all proceeded him in death. Jere joined the Marine Corps. In 1955. He was stationed throughout the United States and around the world. Jere traveled to the Philippines, Panama, Okinawa and Vietnam. Jere was eventually promoted to staff sergeant and served in Vietnam from 1965-1970. Doing multiple tours and serving with MAG 33 at Chu Lai. Jere was honorably discharged in 1970 and earned the following military awards: Good Conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces and a Citation of Gallantry Cross. Jere met his match and future wife, Ramona, also a Marine, while serving in the Marine Corps. They fell in love and married in 1967. Jere had two sons, Jere and Mark, with Ramona and a daughter Kathy from a previous marriage. After the Marine Corps, Jere had numerous jobs in food service, landing at Armstrong World Industries, where he worked for 30 years. Jere was able to provide for his family and live a comfortable life in Lancaster city. Jere enjoyed Westerns, listening to country music and singers like Roger Whitaker and Mario Lanza. Jere was a dog lover and spent plenty of time walking and spoiling his three boxer dogs. Jere was also an avid history buff and had an extensive military history library. Jere also liked collecting stamps and coins. Jere was a proud member of the New Apostolic Church and when capable attended services regularly. Jere embraced his faith and survived many hardships throughout his life. Jere is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Ramona, daughter Kathy Williams (Jeff), sons, Jere A Goodman (Joanne) and Mark Goodman (Kim). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 West Orange St., Lancaster, PA, 17603, on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
