Mildred Parrish Erisman

Mildred Parrish Erisman, 98, formerly of Buchanan Avenue, Lancaster, PA, where she lived for over 60 years, died peacefully on May 31, 2018 at Homestead Village. Born in Manassas, Virginia on April 12, 1920, she was the widow of Charles Augustus Erisman who died on November 17, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Goodlow and Alverda Jennings Parrish. A lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, Mildred was a Church Deacon, Moderator of Presbyterian Women, former President of the Iris Club, former President of Lancaster Needlework Guild, Lancaster Cleft Palate Auxiliary, and Docent at Wheatland. She was also a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), and a member of the Hamilton Club. Mildred graduated from Randolph Macon Women’s College and earned her master’s degree in Chemistry from Smith College. She worked for Armstrong World Industries, as a Research Chemist from 1943- 1950, when she married Charles on April 15, 1950. Mildred played an important role with the start of her husband’s business, Charles A. Erisman Asphalt Paving Company which started in 1956. She continued her involvement in the family business well beyond his retirement in 1984. Mildred was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her two children, Christine, ( Dr. Daniel) Fuller, Shaker Heights, Ohio and Charles A., ( Marsha Linn) Erisman, Jr., of Lancaster, PA, four grand: Scott (Kari Jones) Fuller, Amy (David Waynik), (Lauren (Jeffrey) Jordan, and Kelly (Jad) Prachniak; 5 great grandchildren, Livia and Nash Jordan, Evelyn Fuller, Lucas Waynik, and Emilia Prachniak. She was preceded in death by four younger siblings, twin sisters, Nancy P. Lawson and Betty P. Carneal, and two brothers, Harry J. and Frank J. Parrish. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service for Mildred at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA on Saturday June 23, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Daniel R. Snyder officiating. Interment will be held at Woodward Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, June 23rd from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
