Angelica Cancel

Angélica Cancel, 66 años de edad, nació el 6 de septiembre del 1944 en Maricao, PR (residente de Lancaster, PA desde el 1973), se fue con el Señor el 8 de noviembre del 2010, en Hospice rodeada por sus familiares. Era conocido por todos en su familia y por sus amistades cercanas como “Mom”. Mom fue una madre extraordinaria y amorosa, ella no tenía precio para su familia. Ella fue una madre se dedicó completamente a sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos. A través de los años cuidó de sus nietos, además de otros niños en la ciudad de Lancaster. Ella disfrutaba cocinando platos típicos. Una de sus especialidades fueron los pasteles. Siempre intentamos cocinar como ella pero no le pudimos igualar. Siempre se esforzaba en reservar tiempo para pasarlo con su familia, uniéndolos lo más posible en una comida suculenta. Mom fue conocida por su actitud, sin juzgar a los demás y por ayudar a los demás con su corazón y sus brazos abiertos, siempre brindando una taza de café caliente. Como hijos y nietos nuestro deseo es seguir su legado de valores familiares. Mom fue la hija de María Victoria Vélez y Ramón Núñez. Fue una de los ocho hijos. Ella continuará viviendo en los corazones de sus ocho hijos: Bruni, Sonia, Luis, Yoly, Angelica, Bill, Fernando y Carlos. Todos residentes de Lancaster. También continuará viviendo en los corazones de sus 27 nietos y 11 bisnietos. La mayoría viven en Lancaster. Muchas gracias Mom, por lo que nos inculcaste. Orange Street (en la esquina de Orange y Pine Street) Jueves, 11 de Noviembre de las 6:00 PM a las 8:00 PM. Los servicios funerales se llevarán a cabo el viernes, 12 de noviembre del 2010 a las 10:00 AM en la Primera Iglesia Hispana Asamblea de Dios, 626 S. Duke Street Lancaster, PA. Luego del servicio del viernes se procederá al Cementerio Mellinger Mennonite, Lancaster, PA. Angelica Cancel, 66, born September 6, 1944 in Maricao, PR (has been a resident of Lancaster since 1973) went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2010, surrounded by her family at Hospice. She was known as "Mom" to everyone in her family and close friends. Mom was an extraordinary loving mother who was priceless in the eyes of her family. She was a stay at home mom who lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout the years she served as caregiver to many of her grandchildren as well as many other children in the city of Lancaster. She enjoyed making home cooked Puerto Rican dishes from scratch. One of her specialties was pasteles. We all strive to cook like her but it is imitated never replicated. She thrived on spending quality time with her family by bringing them together for a wonderful meal as often as possible. Mom was known for her non-judgmental attitude and helping others with open arms and her heart warming cup of coffee. We can only hope as her children and grandchildren to follow her legacy of family values. Mom was the daughter of Maria Victoria Velez and Ramon Nunez. She is one of eight children. She lives on in her eight children: Bruni, Sonia, Luis, Yoly, Angelica, Bill, Fernando and Carlos. All of her children reside in Lancaster. She also lives on in her 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Most of who live in Lancaster. Thank you, Mom, for what you instilled in us. We all hope to live up to what you have taught us. Relatives and friends are invited to Angelica's celebration of life funeral service on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the First Spanish Assembly of God Church, 626 S. Duke St., Lancaster, Pa. Friends may call at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., 528 W. Orange St., (the corner of Orange and Pine streets) Lancaster, Pa., on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment will follow the service on Friday at Mellinger's Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, Pa.
