Gloria Mae Claiborne, 75, was born to Gladys and Philip Major of Sebastopol in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana in the summer of 1946. She was the loving wife of Willie T. Claiborne for 45 years of marriage. She was a loving, self-sacrificing person, she loved her family more than anything. She loved oldies but goodies and she loved to dance. Gloria was free hearted, if she had a dollar, you could have fifty cents. She helped many people even took them into her home, so they could rebuild their lives. She was a great cook and she loved to host dinners and gatherings in her home. She had a bright smile that made you feel loved. She could get quite fiery at times when you were doing something wrong. Her professions were homemaker, (she also did housekeep and caregiving in the job market.) Her favorite past time was to go to the casino with her brothers and sisters. She was very humble. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Tina Williams (Late David), Juanita Ayantola, her son, Carlos Claiborne, grandchildren: Jeffrey Burgess, Damien Canal, Shantyra Major, Jasmine Major, and Anthony Claiborne, great-grandchildren: Carmen Burgess, Damien Canal, Jr., Zayior Hargroves, Enijah Hayne, and Nariah Love, her sister, Geraldine Alveris (Roland), her brother; Anthony Major (Olivia), Joseph Major (Mary), her sisters-in-law; Carolyn, Ruth, and Faith and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, godchildren, and her many friends. She was well loved by them all. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Claiborne, Jr., her brothers, Roland Major (Doreen) and Philip Major, Jr., her sisters, Beatrice Duplessis, Victoria Major, Martha Hawkins and Alice Peterson. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Gloria’s Home Going Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 North Lime Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The Family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
