Linda Sue (Baird) Nichols Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Linda Sue (Baird) Nichols, 81, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born in Tacoma Park, MD, she was the daughter of the late Curtis James Baird and Mary Elizabeth Baird (Rathbun). She was the eldest of three that including her brother Curtis James Baird, Jr., and her sister Marianne Baird. Linda’s first accomplishment in her life was becoming a dietitian. She did this by graduating from Loma Linda University in California. She found the love of her life with John Alvin Nichols and married him on October 8th, 1968. Since John Nichols was in the U.S. Army, she lived in many places. Linda lived in MD, TX, CA, East Berlin Germany, Marnheim Germany, Kaiserchlatern Germany, CO, and finally PA. They were blessed to have a daughter Jeanette Susan Nichols in November 1973. Two years and three months later a son Alexander Irwin Nichols was born in February 1976. Jeanette married Jon William Clifton on June 25th, 2000. Linda helped her daughter during labor at Ephrata Community Hospital with the birth of her grandson Jon William Clifton II born in December of 2003. Unfortunately, Linda’s husband John Alvin Nichols passed away on August 30th, 2006. They were married for 38 wonderful years. Her sister Marianne Hyvarinnen passed away in January 2007. This was devastating for her to lose a husband, and a sister so close together. However, a bright spot was the birth of her granddaughter, Lillianna Mythalea Clifton in February 2007. Linda lived in her house at 146 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA until she fell. Unfortunately, it was discovered that she suffered from dementia, and then had to live in a nursing home at Lancashire Hall. Her daughter visited as often as she could. On March 24, 2022, Linda moved closer to her daughter Jeanette to Manatawny Manor in East Coventry, PA. She celebrated her 81st birthday here with her daughter and two grandchildren. Sadly, Linda passed away in the morning of Mother’s Day, May 8th, 2022. She was a sweet and loving lady and will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 151 City Mill Road, Lancaster, PA 17602. Friends are welcome to greet the family starting at 1:00 p.m. A recording of the funeral ceremonial will be available to view after 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
