Russell G. Richelderfer

Russell G. Richelderfer, 80, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, to the late Ceylon and Dorothy (Schiele) Richelderfer, Russ spent his early years in Mahanoy City before settling in Lancaster, where he would build a life centered around family, community, and hard work. A man with many gifts, his family remembers him as brilliant yet humble; a man whose generosity and friendly nature endeared him to everyone he met. Always quick with a joke, Russ had a knack for making others laugh, a trait that his loved ones will miss deeply. Russ was no stranger to hard work. His youth was filled with odd jobs and eventually he found his way into the printing industry where he met the love of his life, Ruth. With Ruth’s love and support, Russ went on to become a successful entrepreneur as an owner of Bindery Associates in Lancaster. He had a great mind for business and was proud to serve his clients and employees for many years. Russ had a passion for the water. He and Ruth were particularly fond of Ocean City, Maryland where they hosted countless friends and family at their second home. His family remembers many fishing trips on one of his boats, time spent at the pool or beach, and picking crabs on a warm summer day. If Russ wasn’t on the water, he could be found at the casino enjoying a hand of cards or watching Ruth at the slots. He is the beloved husband of the late Ruth E. Richelderfer (Lefever), loving brother of the late Ceylon “Smiler” Richelderfer and Leonard Richelderfer (the late Jean). He is survived by his sister, Ruth (the late Rev. Thomas Adams), his daughter, Roxanne S. Landis (the late Richard), and sons, Douglas E. (Carlene) Singleton and James R. (Carol) Singleton. In addition, Russ is the beloved “Pop” to 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Willow Valley Community’s North Johnson Auditorium, 600 Willow Valley Square, North Building, Lancaster, PA 17602.
