Glenn L. Myers

Glenn Lee Myers of Lancaster, PA, died peacefully in the arms of family and close friends on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Leslie E. and Rena Burns Myers. He was the lifelong companion of J. Kim McNabb. He served in the U.S. Navy as a medical corpsman, and was a computer/electrical engineer for the Marines and Air Force. After his military career, he worked as an electrical engineer, retiring from General Electric Co. He was a partner in the Petal Company for over 30 years. Glenn co-fostered 18 young men for the last 36 years and was a beloved grandfather to 28 children. He enjoyed collecting art, he was a car fan, loved dogs and took care of many throughout his life. Glenn loved music, a good cigar and a glass of fine bourbon. Glenn was a man with a gruff exterior but he had a heart of gold and had the most beautiful blue eyes. He was an amazing cook and an avid reader. In addition to his companion, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Jill McNabb Friedman (Jeff) of West Windsor, NJ; sister Carolann Geist (John) of Baltimore; brother Ralph E. Myers (Carolyn Voorhees) of Lancaster; and nieces and nephew: Chad Myers, Laura Myers Haiges (Pete), Brittany Ashe, Julia Ashe, and Laura A. Friedman. Glenn was preceded in death by Susan Geist Ashe, Will and Louis Diaz. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Glenn’s Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The Groffs Family Funeral Services, 528 West Orange St. (corner of West Orange and Pine), Lancaster. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Glenn loved flowers and worked with them for many years.
