Pauline "Winnie" Suk

Pauline Winfrey (Burke) Hershey Suk “Winnie” Winnie entered her heavenly home on December 7, 2015 at the age of 90. Born in Fauquier County, VA on June 24, 1925 to Charles and Mary Ellen (Jenkins) Burke. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Hilda, brothers Cletus, Ashton and Jennings, first husband William P. Hershey and daughters-in-law Jeanne Hershey and Laurie Suk. After Winnie married Bill Hershey in 1945, the newlyweds set up housekeeping in Bristol Township, PA where they lived for many years with their two sons. After Bill Hershey’s death, Winnie married Bill Suk and moved to Holland, PA and then to Brethern Village in Lititz, PA. A meticulous housekeeper, Winnie was known for her excellent culinary skills and her hospitality. She was also a beautician and, as a graduate of Levittown Beauty Academy, Winnie enjoyed many years of working as a hairdresser at Eastern State School and Hospital in Trevose, PA. Winnie was very supportive of her church and family, serving as a den mother for the Cub Scouts when her sons were young, and at Calvary Baptist Church, Bristol, PA as a Pioneer Girls leader. In her later years, she and her second husband Bill were active at Calvary Church of Lancaster, PA in the Grief Share program. Since both Winnie and Bill had experienced the passing of their first spouses, they were able to bless many people who were grieving the loss of a loved one. Surviving Winnie is her husband William Suk; sons Richard (Patti) and Gary Hershey; stepsons Steve (Diane) and Bill Suk; grandchildren Richie (Aida) Hershey, Katie (Steve) Nichols, Sharon (Paul) Miller, JJ (Rebekah) Suk, and Andrea (Jason) Johnson ; great-grandchildren Jordan, Eric and Renee Miller, Trey Nichols, Justin and Kalah Suk and Jemma Nissi Johnson. Winnie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks are due to Winnie’s niece Wanda Osborn for her love and support through Winnie’s lengthy illness, and to The Jackson House in Boston, VA for providing outstanding compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held at Brethren Village in the Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606 on next SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Mark Tedford officiating. A Private graveside service will be held at Bellevue Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gap, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Winnie’s name may be made to Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to The Jackson House, 8 Jackson Lane, Boston, VA 22713.
