Ronald "Ron" L. Kimmich

Ronald “Ron” Luther Kimmich, 83, of Lancaster PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at home with his wife and son close by. He was the son of the late Emmanuel Luther Kimmich and Miriam Mowery Kimmich. Ron was the loving, patient and loyal husband to Christine “Chris” Kimmich who celebrated 52 years of marriage in August 2025. Ron, born in Lancaster, attended McCaskey High School before joining the United States Air Force in 1962. He served eight years in Security Forces, spending 3 years each in England and California and he sometimes talked about guarding top secret weaponry in the bitter cold South Dakota winters. Ron left the Air Force in 1970 just in time to meet Chris in 1971 while walking on the beach at Indian River Inlet, Delaware. A large part of his post Air Force service was as General Manager of James F Wild Inc, a family-owned auto parts store, for 26 years. Ron was an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church where he enjoyed participating in mission workweeks and anything else Chris volunteered him for. He loved to read; spend time with family; dine out with friends; and enjoyed being in nature, most recently he was into birds, especially hummingbirds. Ron loved to travel with family, friends and often just with Chris, first camping as a young family; then weekend get aways; moving up to long road trips to New England and Canada, the Southeast, and the Western National Parks; even Ireland and Europe; and spicing up life with 18 cruises. Ron never met a cruise he didn’t like. He loved beaches, the Caribbean and warm climates the best. He is survived by his wife, Chris; his son, Andrew “Andy” Kimmich and daughter-in-law Ann Kimmich and grandchildren, Clay and Elia of Dover PA; sister, Kathy Pearson, Elizabethtown; stepdaughter, Heather Kinderthain and grandchildren, Caroline and Olivia of Bedford IN; and many nieces and nephews. He was saddened by the loss of his younger brother, Michael “Mike”, in December. We thank God for a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was always there for us, thinking of others and doing all he could to make our world a better place. Our lives have been blessed because of the impact his life had on ours. While we will miss him dearly, we find great joy in knowing that he is now home with Jesus his Lord and Savior. A Memorial Service will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church, 110 N. Mulberry Street, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers you may donate in Ron’s name to Covenant UMC Organ Fund 110 N.
